BIOGRAPHY

 

Laura's roles on the operatic stage include Mimì (La Bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), Manon (Manon), Marguerite (Faust), Juliette (Romeo et Juliette), Liù (Turandot), Susana (La Verbena de la Paloma), La Bikina (Viva Tequila!), Susan (A Dinner Engagement) amongst others.

Laura has performed in the Plácido Domingo Theater, under the baton of Maestro Domingo in "Su Majestad la Zarzuela" and at an opera gala, again directed by Maestro Domingo in Tequila, Jalisco.  Laura played the role of Mimì (La Bohème) with the Zapopan Philharmonic Orchestra, at the new Plácido Domingo Theater, under the direction of Joshua Mayor and Joan Dornemann of the Metropolitan Opera House.

 

 On the concert platform, highlights include concerts with the Ulster Orchestra and BBC Radio, Solistas de Valencia in the 13th Festival Lirico de Benicàssim, Camerata de Coahuila, Quercus Ensemble at the City of London Festival and St John's Smith Square, Mozart Requiem, Handel Messiah and Bach St John Passion with the Chiswick Choir and Orchestra, Strauss Vier letzte Lieder with the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra, Los Maitines, a recently rediscovered work by Joaquín Luna, and numerous concerts with the Zapopan Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.

 

 Laura recorded the role of Marguerite (Faust) with the London National Symphony Orchestra, and appeared in the same role in the HBO Originals series 'The Nevers', created and directed by Joss Whedon.  Laura has performed regularly for BBC Radio on various shows, including Sounds Classical and Classical Connections, and has appeared as a solo artist several times on UK television shows, including City of Song, Lesser Spotted Culture and the Irish drama Seacht.

 

 Laura is from Derry, Ireland and earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in performance from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and was later part of NI Opera's Young Artists Studio.  She received the Northern Ireland Arts Council and BBC Young Musicians Platform Award for 2013-15, a 2010/11 Headley Trust Scholarship, and the 2009/10 Yamaha Vocal Scholarship.

 

Laura is currently under the guidance of world renowned soprano, Nelly Miricioiu, mentor to the young artists on the Jette Parker YAP at the Royal Opera House.

 

Laura has just signed with Universal Music to record her debut album of duets and arias alongside the Mexican tenor Benito Rodríguez, and in the next season, Laura will have her debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, as well as performing the roles of Marguerite (Faust) and Violetta Valéry (La Traviata), Beatrice (Il Postino).
