BIOGRAPHY

 

On the operatic stage Laura has performed such roles as Mimì (La Bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), Susana (La Verbena de la Paloma), La Bikina (Viva Tequila!), Geraldine (A Hand of Bridge), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Vespina (L’infedeltà delusa), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel) NI Opera, cover Venus (Orpheus in the Underworld) Scottish Opera & NI Opera, Susan (A Dinner Engagement) Wexford Festival Opera. Laura has premiered the role of Zerlina (Madame X - Benjamin) at the Grimeborne Festival and premiered the role of Marie (Le gateau d'anniversaire) - Benjamin in the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre.

 

Laura was the recipient of a Young Musicians’ Platform award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the BBC for 2013-15, and she also received a Headley Trust Bursary 2010/11 and the Yamaha Vocal Scholarship 2009/10.

 

Laura has performed regularly for BBC Radio on various shows, including Sounds Classical, Classical Connections,  and has featured as a soloist a number of times in U.K. television programmes, including Lesser Spotted Culture and Irish language drama Seacht. 

 

On the concert platform, highlights include performances with Maestro Plácido Domingo in Su Majestad La Zarzuela, performances with the Ulster Orchestra and BBC Radio, Quercus Ensemble at the City of London Festival and St John’s Smith Square, Mozart Requiem, Handel Messiah and Bach St John Passion with the Chiswick Choir and Orchestra, Strauss Vier letzte Lieder with the Sheffield Symphony Orchestra, Gounod St Cecelia’s Mass and Monteverdi Vespers at the St Gauderic Music Festival in Mirepoix.

 

Laura is currently under the guidance of world renowned soprano, Nelly Miricioiu, mentor to the young artists on the Jette Parker YAP at the Royal Opera House.
